The Brother-in-law
Anna has told me that one more person can stay in your room, though we'll have to sleep three on a bed. But I won't occupy too much place. Or I would even sleep on the floor. Please, don't drive me away!"
"All right, Nelly, you don't have to sleep on the floor. We'll figure something out, don't you worry!" said Harut. Then he called a cab and it took them first to Atlantic Scene where they unloaded Nelly's bags and herself and then the two of them, Alex and Harut, continued
towards Jeff's apartment.
Jeff was an old friend of Harut's. He lived in an apartment with two bedrooms, a living room, kitchen and a bathroom. He was subrenting the apartment so that he could minimize the cost. He kept one bedroom completely for himself; the other bedroom was for rent. There was already one girl staying with him and Alex was going to be the
second person. The good thing about this apartment was the cost: it was very cheap as compared to motels and other places. The bad thing about it was the location. First, it was quite far from downtown; second, the neighborhood wasn't too pleasant. But this was the only option for Alex at the time. And the inexpensive rent was very tempting to him, and that was another decisive argument.
