Miss Martha

Everything was as clear as the blue sky. The five of them were left to the mercy of the fate.
            They started looking for motels where they could stay at least some days before they could find anything else. Gurgen, who was Ani's brother-in-law, stayed at the Knight Road motel and didn't even join them to take care of Ani, to help her both physically and mentally.
So they walked along the streets, calling into the motel offices and inquiring about vacancies.
            Eventually they approached the Atlantic Scene motel where Harut used to live the previous year. He knew the manager: she was very old and because she wasn't nice at all, all she had beside her was a little dog that looked even older than she did. Harut hesitated even to enter the motel, but picturing themselves sleeping under the sky made him ignore all the negative feelings and pierce the entrance.
            "Hi, how are you doing miss Martha?"
            "Fine, thank you. Your face is so familiar, do I know you?" replied miss Martha.
            "Yes, don't you remember me from last year?"
            "Oh, not really to tell you the truth. Refresh my mind, please."
            "It was three of us, two of my friends and me, from Armenia, remember? We gave you McDonald’s T-shirts when we were leaving last year."
