"So you need a job?" asked he looking at Harut. "Ok. But I got just two vacant positions: for you and the girl. Here, take these application forms and fill them out."
"But it was me who saw the sign!" objected Ani. "Sir, excuse me. Maybe you'll take me, it was me who saw the sign on the window!"
"Say what? Are you okay, girl? What else did you see?"
And again, poor Ani took the part of the scapegoat. Maybe that was for the better?
Harut and Anna were hired to work at the store. It was a torture for Harut to work there, but he had to keep an eye on Anna.
"Listen, Anna. If they ask you whether you have a boyfriend or not tell them that you do. They need to know that you got a boyfriend to leave you alone, you got it?"
"Yeah."
The guys went to have a rest before the work started. But Ani didn't join them. She went to find a job for herself.
She walked into a sports and grill bar. All the positions were
taken, though the sign was still saying 'now hiring.' Then she tried a nightclub. They only needed strippers. After the nightclub came a pancake house. They needed a waitress but didn't like her English: she was turned down again.
She was desperate. But she decided to try one more place before she would give up. She went into a fast food restaurant and said that she was looking for a job.
