The Vicious Circle

Harut and Alex were standing in front of their university and were talking about their general friends, girlfriends, and girls in general. Whenever they started talking about girls it meant the topic would change into financial topics. This time was no exception.
            "You know what, Harut," said Alex, "every time I want to go out with my girlfriend, I find out that I'm broke. Then she dumps me. And then I get money, get a new girlfriend but by the time we're about to go out, I'm broke again. And guess what? She also dumps me. And it's like this all the time." 
            "Well, let me tell you something," replied Harut, "if you want to have money and girlfriends at the same time, you gotta go to America. Money and girlfriends all the time, as much money and as many girlfriends as you just want."
            "No kidding?"
            "You bet."
            "Well, then, what are we waiting for?"
            "For the summer. You've probably heard about those work and travel programs that give you the opportunity to spend the summer in the United States, earning money to be able to travel around the states."
            "Yeah, yeah, right, you got it, buddy! What do we need to get into one of those programs?"
            "Patience, some money, good knowledge of English and some paperwork.
